Voting in the 2026 General Election
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Franklin County voters have three ways to cast a ballot: early in person, by absentee ballot, or on Election Day.
Early Voting
Early voting is open to all Franklin County voters, no excuse needed. You can vote at any of these locations, regardless of your precinct:
- Yes Arts (former FPB Building), 317 W. 2nd St.
- Capital City Christian Church, 15 Locust Dr.
- Capital City Activity Center, 202 Medical Heights Dr.
Early voting hours
- Thursday, October 29: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday, October 30: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, October 31: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Absentee Voting by Mail
If you can’t make it to the polls during early voting or on Election Day, you may qualify to vote by mail.
Who’s eligible? You can request a mail-in absentee ballot if you are:
- Out of the county on Election Day
- Required by your job to be out of the county during all voting hours on Election Day
- Military personnel confined to a base or overseas on Election Day
- A student or resident temporarily living outside the county
- A voter (or spouse of a voter) with surgery scheduled that requires hospitalization on Election Day
- Unable to get to the polls due to age, disability, or illness
- In your third trimester of pregnancy
- A precinct officer assigned to a precinct other than your own
- A Deputy County Clerk
- County or state Board of Elections staff
How to request your ballot
The request portal is open September 19 through October 20 at 11:59 p.m.
- Request online at GoVote.ky.gov, or
- Call the Franklin County Clerk’s office at 502-875-8704 to have one mailed to you.
Filling it out
Completely fill in the box for each selection, then sign both the inner and outer envelopes. An unsigned envelope can get your ballot rejected.
Returning your ballot
Your ballot must be received by 6 p.m. on November 3. You can:
- Mail it to the Franklin County Clerk’s office, or
- Drop it in the secure drop box inside the Clerk’s office at 315 W. Main St., located in the entrance lobby just outside the elevator. The drop box is available during business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
